A 21-year-old woman, Vaishali, reportedly committed suicide after failing the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) intermediate examination. Her husband, shocked by the incident, also tried to end his life. However, his family members and neighbours saved him.

The woman, Anjali Kumari, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence in Khajwatta village under Bidupur block in the district late on Wednesday night.

According to family members, Anjali had appeared for the Class XII examination from the arts stream. However, she failed the exam, the results of which were announced on Tuesday. Anjali's father-in-law Sukhadi Thakur said she was depressed after the results were announced.

Seeing his wife dead, Anjali's husband Sunil Kumar (23) also tried to hang himself from the ceiling fan. However, family members rescued him. Sunil was later admitted to sadyar hospital in Hajipur.

SHO of Vaishali Police Station Chandragupt Kumar said that the police are investigating the matter from all angles.
